about

This song was written to commemorate the amazing survival of the 33 Chilean miners at Copiapo in 2010--particularly during the first seventeen days without any contact with the outside world.

lyrics

I'll hold the camera
I'll be the witness
Lower it down, down
Lower it down
And you will see
Something you won't believe

Seventeen days without your gaze
Is enough to make a man go crazy
Talking with ghosts and heavenly host
Trying to figure if my life's worth saving
Maybe maybe

Under the desert
Deep in this cavern
We dream of you, of you
We dream of you
Sun in your hair
Waiting for us up there

I hold the camera
I'll be the witness
Lower it down, down
Lower it down
And you will see
Something you won't believe

Seventeen days without your gaze
Is enough to make a man go crazy
Talking with ghosts and heavenly host
Trying to figure if my life's worth saving
Maybe maybe

So we share a fervent prayer
The only thing to climb
No ladder in this mine
We sing to pass the time
And cling to memories of daylight
Sky, a picture in our minds
And I miss all the lines
Around your eyes when you're laughing

If we are rescued
They'll take a portrait
Look in our eyes, our eyes
Look in our eyes
Wisened and old,
You'll know we found the gold

Seventeen days without your gaze
Is enough to make a man go crazy
Talking with ghosts and heavenly host
Trying to figure if my life's worth saving
Maybe maybe
